Job Description

Product Managers serve as the Voice of the Customer. Product Managers diligently work to understand the critical business problems customers are looking to solve, and develop products and solutions to meet their evolving needs. No two days are the same in the day in the life of a Product Manager. A lot of time is spent identifying potential new capabilities and new ways to make our customers successful. You are the customer advocate and should seek to aggressively drive a roadmap delivering a high-quality product that provides value for our customers.

Having Product Managers will allow MicroStrategy to effectively respond to the needs of international markets in decision-making around product development and product knowledge assets. Their knowledge of their target culture will inform strategy at MicroStrategy, allowing us to specifically cater to the specific needs of various cultures around the world and the various different ways in which international customers use our product.

Duties include:

  • Conduct market research, including needs of the local market and market specific competitive analysis, primary research with customers and secondary research through other sources including analyst reports, competitive websites, and industry association/conference material
  • Serve as the product expert and guide product direction through defining best practices and optimal global customer experience
  • Establish an effective marketing strategy for the local market and work doubling up as an In-house Marketing Translator to oversee localization of Marketing content for the local market
  • Manage customer feedback initiatives to determine the product offering best suited to the local market (product packages, presentation/UX, payment plans, feature selection)
  • Train sales executives on new products and features and devise and oversee sales strategy for local market
  • Work cross functionally with engineering, technical support, sales and professional services to ensure all the pieces come together
  • Devise an effective go-to-market strategy for Japan and work with Globalization and Localization Specialist at HQ to maximize ROI for localization of MicroStrategy content in Japanese.
  • Manage customer feedback initiatives to determine the product offering best suited to the local market (product packages, presentation/UX, payment plans, feature selection)

Qualifications

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated people who love working with smart teams to solve hard problems. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • BS or MS in computer science, or similar field or experience as a Product Manager, Software Designer, or Software Engineer
  • Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and English
  • 5 + years of work experience as a Product Manager or equivalent function
  • Experience in designing and helping to localize and take global software solutions to market
  • Strength in building relationships and effective communication with varied internal and external audiences and stakeholders
  • You have an excellent product/design sense,and you can take complex problems and craft simple experiences
  • You have demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional projects while handling a number of moving pieces
  • Experience with Business Intelligence software
